About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing Building Services consultancy based in Newmarket. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with strong technical knowledge and a proven background in mechanical building services design. The role would suit someone located within a commutable distance of Newmarket who is happy to work from the office at least 3 days per week. You will be involved in the design and delivery of a variety of commercial, residential, education, and mixed‑use projects from concept through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce mechanical building services designs including HVAC, heating, ventilation, and public health systems
- Prepare detailed calculations, specifications, and technical reports
- Coordinate designs with internal and external project teams
- Attend client and design meetings
- Support project delivery from feasibility through to construction stage
- Ensure designs comply with current regulations and industry standards
- Liaise with contractors, architects, and consultants throughout project delivery
- Mentor and support junior engineers where required
Requirements
- Minimum 6‑7 years' experience within Mechanical Building Services Design
- Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems design
- Experience working within a consultancy or contractor design environment
- Proficient with industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, or similar
- Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and CIBSE standards
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence preferred
