Mechanical Estimator

Location: North East England – Office Based Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join an established and growing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the preparation and winning of profitable mechanical projects, acting as a key point of contact between the business and clients’ professional teams throughout the tendering process.

You will play an important role in understanding tender requirements, preparing accurate estimates and ensuring all relevant information is clearly communicated to the wider bid team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive mechanical estimates and tenders.
  • Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications and schedules.
  • Establish and communicate tender requirements to the wider bid team.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the tender process.
  • Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations.
  • Carry out quantity take-offs and pricing.
  • Identify commercial opportunities and potential risks within tenders.
  • Ensure tenders are submitted accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Assist with the development of competitive and profitable bids.
  • Maintain clear and accurate tender documentation.
  • Support the wider commercial and estimating team as required.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and professional teams.

About You

The ideal candidate will be an organised, commercially aware and committed individual with a strong background in mechanical estimating or quantity surveying.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in mechanical estimating or quantity surveying.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services.
  • Experience preparing tenders and estimates.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong IT and Microsoft Office skills.
