Role Overview
We are a Leicester-based construction specialist delivering high-quality cladding, façade, and remedial projects across the UK. We are seeking a Deputy Design Manager to support the Design Manager in coordinating and managing the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
This role is critical in ensuring design compliance, coordination, and buildability, working closely with consultants, suppliers, and site teams to resolve technical and design-related issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Design Manager in managing the design process from pre-construction to project completion
- Coordinate and manage design information between consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams
- Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical submissions for accuracy and compliance
- Support compliance with UK Building Regulations, industry standards, and project-specific requirements
- Assist the Design Manager with Building Safety Regulator (BSR) requirements, including Gateway submissions
- Attend and contribute to site meetings, design workshops, and coordination meetings
- Support the Design Manager in responding to site queries and resolving design-related issues
- Undertake site visits to understand construction progress and identify design impacts or risks
- Assist in managing design changes and ensuring updates are communicated to relevant stakeholders
- Actively develop technical, regulatory, and construction knowledge, particularly in façade and remedial works
Skills & Experience
- Experience in a design, technical, or design coordination role within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of the construction design process and full project lifecycle
- Ability to read, interpret, and interrogate technical drawings and documentation
- Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and familiarity with BSR processes
- Understanding of passive fire protection principles, particularly relevant to cladding and façade systems
- Experience using digital design management platforms (e.g. Procore, Viewpoint, Asite)
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D and 3D)
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to liaise effectively across teams
- Organised, methodical, and capable of managing multiple workstreams
- Proactive, solution-focused, and pragmatic approach to problem-solving
- High attention to detail with a practical mindset
