Overview
We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our demolition team in Port Glasgow. The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of demolition projects, ensuring accurate cost control, subcontractor management, and timely delivery of projects within budget. This role is ideal for someone with experience in demolition, civil works, or structural strip-out projects, who can provide commercial guidance across all stages of a project.
Key Responsibilities
- Full commercial management of demolition projects from pre-tender to final account
- Preparation and management of project budgets, cost plans, and forecasts
- Procurement and management of subcontractors and suppliers
- Preparation of tender submissions and cost estimates for new projects
- Assessment and agreement of variations, change orders, and subcontractor claims
- Preparation and submission of interim valuations and payment applications
- Monitoring project costs and reporting on financial performance
- Preparation and agreement of final accounts
- Advising project managers and site teams on contractual and commercial matters
- Ensuring compliance with contract terms and company procedures
Project Experience
- Demolition of industrial, commercial, or residential buildings
- Strip-out and site clearance works
- Civil and structural demolition projects
- Contaminated site clearance and asbestos removal (desirable)
Requirements
- Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction, or equivalent
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in demolition, civils, or heavy construction
- Strong knowledge of standard UK contracts (JCT, NEC, or bespoke demolition contracts)
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in IT and commercial software (Excel, cost management tools)
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable
- Experience in asbestos management or contaminated site works
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations specific to demolition
- MRICS or working towards professional accreditation
