The RoleAn opportunity has arisen for an experienced Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to join a high-performing commercial team delivering technically complex and regulated facilities.
The role supports the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to completion, where precision, compliance, and cost control are critical. Responsibilities span cost planning, procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting.
The successful candidate will be calm, organised, non-adversarial, and capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines while protecting commercial interests and supporting wider business objectives. Experience with mechanical and electrical cost elements is beneficial due to their significant proportion of overall project value.
Key ResponsibilitiesPre-Construction
Develop cost plans, detailed estimates, and commercial reports
Support procurement strategies, tender evaluations, negotiated works, and contractor negotiations
Review construction contracts and identify onerous terms and conditions
Analyse design changes and provide cost advice, change costing, and change-control support
Construction / Post-Construction
Manage contract administration including valuations, variations, and final accounts
Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
Attend site meetings and respond to commercial queries
Ensure compliance with contractual, industry, and regulatory requirements
Maintain risk management, accuracy, and strong attention to detail
Contribute positively to team collaboration and commercial performance
Candidate Requirements
Degree in Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, or a related discipline
Minimum 4 years\’ post-qualification experience (additional experience advantageous)
Strong knowledge of construction contracts (NEC3/4, JCT, SBCC)
Experience delivering technically complex projects
Ability to manage multiple budgets, programmes, and reporting requirements
Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail
Commercially aware with effective negotiation skills
Calm, organised, and able to perform under pressure
Positive, motivated, and professional approach
Non-adversarial mindset while protecting commercial interests
Ability to commercially manage small to medium-scale projects end-to-end, including final accounts, with minimal supervision
