The Gate Person / Store Person plays a key role in supporting the smooth and safe running of a busy construction site. This position is responsible for controlling site access, managing deliveries, maintaining site stores, and assisting with general site duties. You will be the first point of contact for all visitors and deliveries, helping ensure the site remains secure, organised, and compliant with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Access & Security
- Control all entry and exit points to the site
- Check identification and authorisation of all personnel and visitors
- Ensure all visitors sign in and follow site procedures
- Maintain site security and report any concerns immediately
- Deliveries & Logistics
- Log and coordinate all site deliveries
- Safely direct delivery vehicles on and off site
- Receive, inspect, and store deliveries appropriately
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and site attendance
- Stores & Materials
- Keep storage areas organised, tidy, and accessible
- Issue tools, materials, and equipment to site teams
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or damage
- Ensure safe handling and storage of materials
- General Site Duties
- Assist with general labouring tasks as required
- Support site cleanliness and housekeeping standards
- Assist with traffic management when required
- Support trades and site management where needed
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar construction site role preferred
- Valid CSCS card (essential)
- Traffic Marshal / Banksman qualification desirable
- Experience in materials handling or site stores advantageous
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Reliable, proactive, and safety-conscious attitude
- Ability to work outdoors and perform manual handling tasks
