Henlee Resourcing is working in partnership with this "values led" business services organisation based in Chippenham to recruit a talented Head of People on a permanent basis. The organisation offers hybrid working with the expectation to be in the Chippenham office 3 days per week. Ideally the role is full-time, however for the right person, flexibility around this could be offered.
The organisation is a thriving, mid-sized business of approximately 130 employees. They have a collaborative, high trust workplace, and are dedicated to protecting, nurturing, and evolving their unique Company culture.
We are seeking a pragmatic, people centric Head of People and Culture to lead the people function. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and managing a small team of 3, you will act as the guardian of the workplace culture while ensuring operational excellence across the entire employee lifecycle.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a structured leader who thrives in a collaborative and operational environment.
You will be responsible for maintaining high levels of employee engagement, ensuring legal compliance, and championing people initiatives which keep the employees motivated and supported.
You will lead, mentor, and work alongside a small team who encompass HR advisory, payroll and administrative support, ensuring the function delivers a seamless service to the wider business.
About the role / core responsibilities:
- Culture and retention: Develop and execute initiatives that protect the core values, boost engagement, and drive long term employee retention.
- Employee Engagement: Act as a visible, trusted point of contact for employees at all levels, proactively addressing feedback and fostering an inclusive workplace.
- Operational Stability: Oversee day to day people functions, including employee relations, company reward and benefits, performance management processes, policy upkeep and payroll.
- Compliance and governance: Keep the Company aligned with current UK employment legislation, managing complex ER issues with fairness and pragmatism.
- Team Leadership: Manage, support, and develop the small People and Culture team to ensure the delivery of efficient, high quality people operations.
About you:
- Proven experience as a HR Manager, HR Business Partner or Head of HR, ideally within a stable small to medium-sized enterprise.
- Practical and pragmatic approach to problem solving and wider collaboration.
- Deep knowledge of UK employment law and best practice, with the confidence to handle complex employee relations independently.
- Exceptional interpersonal and listening skills, you are someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships and understanding the human element of business operations.
- Solid track record of people management, with a supportive leadership style that brings out the best in a small team.
- CIPD Level 7 qualification is highly desirable, though equivalent hands on experience is valued equally.
