Henkels & McCoy currently seeking Copper Splicers for our Telecom program in Indiana. Current work locations are: Elkhart, Valparaiso, Lafayette, Kokomo, Marion.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to and advance Henkels & McCoy’s Safety Principles.
- Work with foreman/construction manager to plan installations as required.
- Use and understand the copper cable color code.
- Read prints.
- Install and test copper cable in a variety of environments (underground, aerial).
- Bond and ground copper cables according to current specifications.
- Place both aerial and underground splice closures along with a variety of other closures common to the splicing and termination of copper cables.
- Perform testing of copper cables.
- Record and document testing per customer specifications.
- Use various splicing equipment and run cable trouble (Max Tester 635 or Dynatel).
- Maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers and customers at all times.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a copper splicer with experience on outside plant or system installations while working from blueprints, specifications, and system documentation.
- Will have a thorough working knowledge of most widely used construction practices of copper cable.
- Must have the experience to detect safety issues and work independently.
- The applicant must successfully prove to the satisfaction of the construction supervision that he/she possesses the copper splicing abilities required for this position.
- This position requires significant time doing manual labor functions, walking on uneven ground, working in tight spaces and in general, being overall physically demanding.
- Must be able to perform heavy physical work and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.
