We are seeking an experienced and efficient Head of Exhibitions to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple complex art exhibitions. The ideal candidate will possess strong organisational skills, a deep understanding of logistics, and significant experience managing the timing, shipping, installation, and financial aspects of art exhibitions. Please note this is a maternity contract for 10 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive project plans for each exhibition, detailing timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with curators, artists, and other stakeholders to ensure all exhibition requirements are met.
- Schedule and manage all logistical aspects, including transportation, installation and deinstallation of artworks.
- Oversee the shipping and handling of art pieces, ensuring all items are transported safely and efficiently.
- Liaise with shipping companies, customs, and other regulatory bodies to facilitate smooth international and domestic shipments.
- Ensure all installations are completed to the highest standards, coordinating with external contractors and internal teams as necessary.
- Develop and manage budgets for each exhibition, tracking expenses and ensuring all projects remain within financial constraints.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to secure the best rates and terms.
- Oversee all aspects of the exhibition marketing collateral, including catalogue, installation photography, merchandise, and promotional material.
- Supervise and provide guidance to exhibition staff, ensuring all team members understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Identify potential risks associated with exhibitions and develop mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of all exhibition-related activities, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in logistics, scheduling, and financial management related to art exhibitions.
- Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
