HENI is pleased to be recruiting on behalf of a client for the following opportunity. We are looking for an exceptionally organised and confident Artist Assistant to work closely alongside an internationally active artist. This is a dynamic, wide-ranging role that sits at the heart of the artist’s professional life; no two days will look the same. The artist travels extensively, and this role can often travel with them. When the artist is in their studio, you will be there too. When they are not, you will be holding the operation together remotely. The right candidate will be ambitious, self-driven, and entirely comfortable taking ownership; someone who sees this not just as a job, but as an opportunity to work with a dynamic artist in the contemporary art world.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Manage the artist’s schedule, correspondence, and day-to-day diary
  • Run studio administration and keep operations moving smoothly — whether on-site or remote
  • Travel with the artist as required
  • Coordinate logistics for exhibitions, events, shoots, and studio visits
  • Liaise with galleries, collectors, collaborators, and external partners
  • Occasionally step into deal discussions and negotiations on the artist’s behalf
  • Handle research, briefings, and preparation ahead of trips
  • Anticipate needs and solve problems before they become issues

ABOUT YOU

  • This role would suit a recent grad with some experience in a similar role
  • Ambitious, proactive, and confident in your own judgement
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure
  • A strong, assured communicator; written, verbal, and in the room
  • Comfortable representing someone else professionally in commercial settings
  • Genuinely passionate about contemporary art and the creative industries
  • Happy to travel and flexible with your time when the role demands it
  • Discreet, reliable, and calm under pressure

WORKING PATTERN

This is a full-time role, five days a week, primarily within standard office hours. When the artist is in their studio you will be expected to be on-site; at other times the role can be managed remotely. There will be periods of international travel. You should be comfortable with flexibility; working closely with a practising artist means priorities can shift, and the ability to adapt quickly is essential.

COMPENSATION & TERMS

This role is offered on a fixed salary of between £27,000 to £30,000. There is no commission element. Salary will be discussed with candidates during the process and will reflect experience. Full-time · Salaried · Studio & Remote · Travel Required
