We are seeking an experienced Solaris / Unix Engineer to join a busy infrastructure team supporting a business-critical Solaris estate. This role will focus on the support, maintenance and ongoing improvement of Solaris platforms within a complex enterprise environment. We're looking for a hands-on infrastructure professional with strong Solaris administration skills and a solid background in Unix systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and maintain Oracle Solaris environments
- Perform system administration, patching and upgrades
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot complex technical issues
- Develop and maintain shell scripts to support automation and operational activities
- Work closely with wider infrastructure and virtualisation teams
- Support ongoing platform improvement and infrastructure projects
- Contribute to system documentation and operational procedures
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong Oracle Solaris administration experience
- Solid Unix systems administration background
- Shell scripting experience (KSH, KornShell, Bash or similar)
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure environments
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience working within complex operational environments

- Linux administration

Contract Details
- Initial contract with strong likelihood of extension
- Inside IR35
- Hybrid working (1-2 days per week onsite)
- Day rate circa £350-£400 per day, with some flexibility for the right individual
