A leading UK law firm is seeking an experienced Tax & Trust Adviser to join its well-regarded Trust Management and Advisory Team, part of a wider private client practice with national recognition. The team advises on all aspects of trust administration and tax planning, working closely with high-net-worth individuals, families, professional trustees, and charitable entities.

This opportunity would suit a proactive and technically skilled professional with a strong background in trust management and personal tax, ideally gained from a legal, financial, or fiduciary services environment.

The Role

Working within a supportive and collaborative trust and private client team, the successful candidate will:

  • Deliver specialist advice to trustees and beneficiaries on matters such as:
  • Trust distributions and term planning
  • Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax implications
  • Trusts approaching termination or no longer fulfilling their original purpose
  • Trust wind-ups and strategic tax planning
  • Monitor key deadlines (e.g. ten-year anniversary charges, entitlements)
  • Provide support on trust accounting and Inheritance Tax returns (with team support)
  • Work on charitable trust matters in collaboration with a specialist charities team
  • Support trust registration and compliance projects (e.g. TRS)
  • Supervise and mentor junior colleagues and contribute to technical training and internal know-how
  • Collaborate closely with other professionals within a wider succession and tax practice, including estate planning, probate, and Court of Protection specialists
  • Candidate Profile

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • A relevant professional qualification (Solicitor, CILEX, STEP, ATT, CTA or equivalent)
    • At least 5 years' experience in a trust or private client advisory role
    • Solid technical expertise in trust administration and UK tax legislation
    • Strong matter management and client care skills
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities
    • Confidence managing complex matters with minimal supervision
    • A client-focused and commercially aware approach
    • IT proficiency and familiarity with digital case management tools
