A leading international law firm with a strong reputation in the insurance and reinsurance sector is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate to join its specialist Insurance Transactions & Regulation practice in London. This highly regarded team advises a broad range of clients, including insurers, reinsurers, brokers, intermediaries, MGAs, investors and emerging market participants across the UK and international insurance markets. The practice is particularly well known for its expertise in Lloyd's, the London Market and the wider non-life insurance and reinsurance sector.
The successful candidate will join a dedicated corporate, commercial and regulatory insurance team, working on a diverse mix of transactional, advisory and regulatory matters. The role offers exposure to high-quality domestic and cross-border work, advising clients ranging from global organisations to innovative start-ups. Matters regularly involve acquisitions, investments, restructurings, distribution arrangements, regulatory change projects and day-to-day commercial advisory work.
This position would suit a lawyer looking to deepen their sector expertise while gaining significant client exposure and responsibility within a collaborative and market-leading practice.
Key Responsibilities- Advising insurers, reinsurers, intermediaries and investors on corporate, commercial and regulatory matters.
- Supporting and leading on transactions involving regulated businesses.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial and transactional documents.
- Managing matters on a day-to-day basis, including liaising directly with clients and coordinating with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions.
- Providing commercially focused advice on insurance regulatory issues.
- Contributing to business development initiatives and client relationship management.
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team where appropriate.
Applications are welcomed from England & Wales qualified solicitors with approximately 4–6 years' PQE, gained within a recognised law firm or relevant in-house environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Experience across a combination of corporate, commercial and financial services regulatory work.
- Exposure to transactions involving regulated entities.
- Knowledge of insurance regulation and the wider insurance market, particularly Lloyd's and the London Market, although this is not essential.
