Role - Area Sales Manager covering the M62 Corridor

Responsible To: Regional Sales Director

Main Purpose of Role:

  • Promote a market-leading range of building products and exceed budgeted profit and sales targets.
  • Raise awareness, generate sales, and achieve agreed targets for the assigned product range.
  • Maintain strong relationships within the merchant and distributor network, including national and independent businesses, as well as main and subcontractors.
  • Manage key accounts within the region.
  • Generate and follow up on project-related quotations and successfully convert them into orders.
  • Engage in specification sales and develop relationships with specifiers.
  • Carry out site surveys to assist with project conversions.
  • Increase brand awareness within the assigned geographical area.
  • Support and grow sales with existing stockists by creating business plans, sharing project information, and optimizing stock profiles.
  • Manage key installer accounts and grow sales through agreed independent and national merchant groups.
  • Build relationships with main contractors and specialist installers in designated sectors.
  • Ensure the company’s product range is preferred by customers through strong relationship-building.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of project opportunities and successfully manage conversions.
  • Navigate various contract types and understand procurement decision-makers.
  • Deliver professional training, product presentations, and CPD sessions to relevant audiences.
  • Interpret site drawings and carry out site surveys that lead to accurate quotations and confirmed orders.
  • Ensure CRM systems are accurately updated and maintained.
  • Ability to manage a sales territory and implement tailored customer business plans.
  • Valid driver’s license is essential.
  • Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to support closing sales through effective internal and external communication.
  • Professional conduct and the ability to engage with specifiers, contractors, and merchants effectively.
  • Minimum of 3 years of external sales experience.
  • Experience in project tracking.
