Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Oracle database solutions.
- Develop and enhance Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code, including stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, and views.
- Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into robust database solutions.
- Support the maintenance and improvement of existing Oracle-based applications and data processes.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve database and application-related issues.
- Perform SQL query optimisation and database performance tuning.
- Support data migration, data cleansing, and data transformation activities where required.
- Work closely with business analysts, developers, testers, infrastructure teams, and project stakeholders.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including design notes, support documentation, and code specifications.
- Ensure development work follows agreed standards, governance, and change control processes.
- Support testing, defect resolution, release activities, and production implementation.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the team where required.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong commercial experience as an Oracle Developer or Senior Oracle Developer.
- Excellent Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development skills.
- Experience developing stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, views, and complex queries.
- Strong understanding of relational database design and data modelling principles.
- Proven experience in performance tuning and query optimisation.
- Ability to analyse and troubleshoot complex database issues.
- Experience working with large-scale or business-critical systems.
- Good understanding of software development lifecycle practices.
- Experience working in structured project or service delivery environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned development tasks.
Desirable Skills
- Experience working in public sector, financial services, education, or similarly regulated environments.
- Experience supporting legacy Oracle applications.
- Knowledge of Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, Oracle APEX, ODI, or other Oracle development tools.
