The Insurance Disputes Principal Associate role sits within the growing Insurance Disputes team of a Top 50 UK law firm with a strong presence in the London insurance market and a Band 4 ranking for Insurance & Reinsurance in The Legal 500. This opportunity offers exposure to complex, high-value domestic and international disputes across a broad range of insurance lines.
Responsibilities:
- Advise on a broad range of insurance coverage disputes, liability defence matters, professional indemnity claims, subrogation issues and reinsurance disputes.
- Act for insurers, reinsurers, Lloyd's syndicates and MGAs on complex domestic and international matters across multiple insurance classes.
- Provide strategic advice on policy interpretation, coverage issues and dispute resolution strategy while managing matters from inception through to resolution.
- Work closely with partners on high-value and complex cases, while supervising and mentoring junior lawyers within the team.
- Support client relationship management and business development activities, helping to strengthen and grow key client accounts within the London Insurance Market.
Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor with 8+ years' PQE and a strong background in insurance disputes, coverage work and liability defence.
- Proven experience advising insurers, reinsurers, Lloyd's syndicates or other London Market clients on complex insurance matters.
- Strong understanding of policy interpretation, coverage disputes, professional indemnity claims, subrogation and dispute resolution strategy.
- Experience managing complex matters independently, supervising junior lawyers and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent commercial awareness, client relationship skills and knowledge of the London Insurance Market, including Lloyd's and subscription risks.
