About the Role

Are you a pragmatic, hands-on Delivery Manager who values outcome over ceremony? We are looking for a high-calibre Delivery Manager to take end-to-end accountability for the delivery of a Central Government Core Cloud service. This is not a ceremonial Agile role. It is a gritty, hands-on leadership position operating in a high-assurance, multi-supplier, and politically visible environment. You will be expected to control risk, challenge optimism bias, expose reality early, and keep delivery moving despite ambiguity and security constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery & Execution: Own delivery across Core Cloud workstreams (platform, migration, security uplift, tooling). Translate roadmaps into executable plans from discovery through to live phases.
  • Stakeholder & Governance: Run delivery governance forums with clarity and pace. Provide honest reporting (RAG, risks, mitigations) to senior DDaT leadership, architects, and security teams.
  • Multi-Supplier Leadership: Coordinate delivery across multiple external suppliers and internal teams, ensuring clear ownership and removing engineering blockers.
  • Assurance & Finance: Align delivery with GDS Service Manual and Home Office assurance gates while tracking delivery against funding envelopes.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Central Government: Proven track record of digital delivery within public sector/central government environments.
  • Cloud & Platform Delivery: Experience delivering large-scale cloud (AWS) or platform programmes, with a strong understanding of modern DevOps models.
  • Multi-Supplier Management: Demonstrable experience managing multi-supplier delivery under tight security, compliance, and regulatory constraints.
  • Pragmatic Agile: Ability to apply Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid approaches pragmatically-balancing speed with assurance.
  • Strong Communication: A confident communicator who can constructively challenge senior stakeholders and say 'this won't land' early, backed by evidence.

Desirable

  • Direct experience delivering core cloud shared platforms, landing zones, or FinOps.
  • Familiarity with governance and GDS assessments.
