The predicted salary is between 45000 - 60000 £ per year.

Location: Manchester/Barrow - Hybrid 80% office & 20% remote

Duration: 3 months contract (with possible extension)

Rate: £470 per day inside IR35

To be considered you must have active SC Clearance and be a sole UK national.

Role Description:

Strong hands-on engineers with deep Linux and Solaris administration capability, required to support a security-critical production estate including legacy Solaris platforms.

Key Technical Skills:

  • Linux Administration RHEL / CentOS (or equivalent)
  • Performance troubleshooting, patching, system management
  • Strong experience administering legacy Solaris systems
  • ZFS, system stability, and production support
  • Core Unix Engineering
  • OS-level troubleshooting (CPU, memory, disk, services)
  • System patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
  • Scripting / automation (shell, basic tooling)
  • Production Support Experience in live enterprise environments
  • Incident, problem, and change execution

Environment: Secure, audited, highly regulated infrastructure. Mixed Linux and legacy Unix estate requiring specialist support capability.

Summary:

Short-term requirement for technically strong Unix engineers with Solaris expertise, capable of operating independently in a controlled, production environment to support exit delivery.
