About the Opportunity
Are you a talented IT Infrastructure Engineer looking for a challenging new role where your generalist Microsoft/Windows expertise, coupled with a focus on cyber security, will make a real impact? We are a rapidly growing organisation based in Edinburgh and are looking for a motivated engineer to join our small, dynamic team. This is a crucial role where you'll maintain, secure, and enhance our core IT services, focusing particularly on Intune, patch management, and network defence. What You'll Be Doing
- System Administration: Providing end-to-end administration, maintenance, and support for our Windows Server environment, including Active Directory and Microsoft 365 services.
- Security & Patching: Taking ownership of the security lifecycle, including regular patch management across all server and endpoint estates, ensuring compliance and vulnerability reduction.
- Endpoint Management (Intune): Managing and securing all corporate endpoints (laptops, mobiles) using Microsoft Intune (Endpoint Manager) for configuration, deployment, and policy enforcement.
- Networking & Firewalls: Maintaining and troubleshooting core networking components (LAN/WAN, Wi‑Fi) and configuring/managing firewalls and other perimeter security devices.
- Project Work: Assisting in the implementation of new infrastructure projects, upgrades, and migrations to improve resilience and security.
- Support: Providing effective third-line support for complex infrastructure incidents and problem resolution.
What You'll Need to Bring
- Proven experience in an Infrastructure Engineer or similar role.
- A strong generalist skillset across the Microsoft/Windows ecosystem (Server OS, Active Directory, Group Policy).
- Solid experience with Microsoft Intune or other modern endpoint management tools.
- Demonstrable knowledge of network fundamentals and experience configuring firewalls (e.g., policy creation, VPNs).
- A genuine interest in security best practices, especially in relation to patching and system hardening.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
