Are you looking for your next Data Centre Engineering project? I am partnering with a secure government services client who are looking for an experienced Data Centre Engineer to join their team. You will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting critical infrastructure in a full-time, onsite data centre role in the Reading area. You will work hands-on with a wide range of hardware, networking and power technologies in a highly secure environment. Due to the urgency and nature of the work, we are ideally looking for a sole British National with active DV clearance preferred.
Some of the work you will be involved in includes:
- Maintaining and supporting infrastructure and computer equipment within secure data centres.
- Installing, upgrading and swapping hardware appliances and line-replaceable items.
- Working with power technologies and fibre/copper patching in line with data centre standards.
- Diagnosing faults using structured techniques, with and without test equipment.
- Investigating issues, identifying root causes and advising product teams on physical constraints.
- Ensuring documentation, procedures and standards are accurate and kept up to date, and liaising with vendors on compatibility and compliance.
I am therefore keen to speak with candidates who have:
- Experience working with infrastructure and computer equipment in data centres.
- Good understanding of infrastructure technologies, including hardware, networking concepts and data centre best practices.
- Familiarity with fault-finding methods and health and safety in a data centre environment.
- Experience across hardware appliance types, installations, power and patching mediums.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently when needed.
- Experience working with vendors on compatibility and compliance.
- Strong documentation skills for procedures and standards.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, able to commute and stay overnight when needed.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including on-call and overtime.
- Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security or Systems Engineering, or equivalent experience (desirable).
- Experience working with Agile methodologies (desirable).
