Rate: Up to £300 per day inside IR35

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Oracle database solutions.
  • Develop and enhance Oracle SQL and PL/SQL code, including stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, and views.
  • Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into robust database solutions.
  • Support the maintenance and improvement of existing Oracle-based applications and data processes.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve database and application-related issues.
  • Perform SQL query optimisation and database performance tuning.
  • Support data migration, data cleansing, and data transformation activities where required.
  • Work closely with business analysts, developers, testers, infrastructure teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, including design notes, support documentation, and code specifications.
  • Ensure development work follows agreed standards, governance, and change control processes.
  • Support testing, defect resolution, release activities, and production implementation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other members of the team where required.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Strong commercial experience as an Oracle Developer or Senior Oracle Developer.
  • Excellent Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development skills.
  • Experience developing stored procedures, packages, functions, triggers, views, and complex queries.
  • Strong understanding of relational database design and data modelling principles.
  • Proven experience in performance tuning and query optimisation.
  • Ability to analyse and troubleshoot complex database issues.
  • Experience working with large-scale or business-critical systems.
  • Good understanding of software development lifecycle practices.
  • Experience working in structured project or service delivery environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned development tasks.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working in public sector, financial services, education, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Experience supporting legacy Oracle applications.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports, Oracle APEX, ODI, or other Oracle development tools.
  • Experience with Unix/Linux scripting.
