A highly regarded and award-winning law firm in the South East is seeking a solicitor to join its Family team in Guildford. With a strong presence across multiple offices, the firm delivers a comprehensive range of legal services to businesses and individuals. The Family team handles a broad spectrum of family law matters, including child and relationship disputes, pre-nuptial agreements, divorce, financial settlements, and associated litigation. Renowned for its expertise and high-quality legal services, the team has received industry recognition and multiple awards.
A solicitor is required to join the Family Dispute Resolution team in the Guildford office. The team has been featured in top industry rankings and has been recognised for excellence in family law. The ideal candidate will be a 1-2 PQE solicitor ready to manage a varied caseload and contribute to the continued success of the team. The role involves working alongside Partners and Associates on complex matters while maintaining an individual caseload under supervision. Developing strong client relationships and assisting in the team's growth is a key aspect of the position. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting financial and performance targets as set by the Group Head.
Responsibilities and Duties- Actively contribute to the success of the Family Dispute Resolution team and collaborate with colleagues on complex cases.
- Engage in training and professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of family law.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings and discussions.
- Develop technical expertise and remain informed about developments in family law.
- Uphold the firm's values and professional culture.
- Handle a caseload involving divorce, financial disputes, matrimonial arbitration/mediation, pre-nuptial agreements, child arrangements, cohabitation disputes, and related matters.
- Provide support to senior fee earners on more complex cases.
- Achieve financial targets, including fee generation and cost control.
- Maintain accurate case records and financial data within the firm's internal systems.
- Monitor performance metrics, including billing and time recording, and take necessary action to meet targets.
- Ensure the efficient and cost-effective delivery of legal services.
- Deliver exceptional legal services with a strong emphasis on client care.
- Build and maintain client relationships to ensure a positive experience, encouraging repeat business and referrals.
- Assist with marketing and business development activities, such as contributing to newsletters and attending networking events.
- Adhere to all relevant regulatory and firm-wide risk management policies, including Money Laundering and FSMA procedures.
- Participate in regular team meetings to review caseloads and ensure compliance.
- Previous experience handling divorce, matrimonial finance disputes, pre-nuptial agreements, Children Act matters, cohabitation disputes, and related areas.
- Strong knowledge of family law legislation and relevant case law.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- A client-focused approach with the ability to provide pragmatic solutions.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and support senior colleagues.
- Proficiency in legal research, drafting, and case management.
