My client, a highly regarded Surrey law firm, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Contentious Trusts and Probate Litigation Lawyer to lead their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced litigator to take on a key role in a well-respected firm, working on complex and high-net-worth cases both locally and nationally.
The Role
The firm are looking for a senior litigator with substantial expertise in contentious trusts and estates to oversee and develop our specialist practice. You will handle a diverse caseload of high-profile and complex litigation matters, providing expert legal advice and representation to clients. This role also offers the opportunity to mentor junior team members and contribute to the firm's strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a broad range of contentious probate and trust disputes, including Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claims.
- Handle all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and appeal.
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and legal opinions.
- Represent clients in court, mediation, and negotiations.
- Maintain strong client relationships, providing strategic legal counsel and regular case updates.
- Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Work closely with other departments to offer comprehensive legal solutions.
- Keep abreast of developments in litigation, probate, and trust law.

Requirements
- Extensive experience in litigation, with a focus on wills, trusts, estates, and probate disputes.
- Membership of ACTAPS and/or ConTrA is highly desirable.
- Understanding of Court of Protection work is an advantage.
- Strong track record of handling complex litigation cases successfully.
- Excellent advocacy, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills.
- Exceptional legal research, analytical, and drafting abilities.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
