An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and commercially minded Property Litigation Associate (2-6 PQE) to join a market-leading Real Estate team of 40+ lawyers in Tunbridge Wells. You will work alongside ex-City lawyers on London-quality matters, managing a varied caseload for a broad client base including commercial landlords and tenants, developers, landowners, private individuals, and insolvency practitioners.
Responsibilities
- Handling a wide range of property disputes, including:
- Commercial landlord & tenant disputes: rent arrears, lease renewals under the Landlord & Tenant Act 1954, dilapidations, breach of covenant, forfeiture, and service charge disputes.
- Property-related insolvency matters, including engaging with and appointing insolvency practitioners.
- Development-related disputes: overage, rights of light, easements, restrictive covenants, and possession claims.
- Advising clients on risk management, dispute avoidance, and litigation strategy.
- Drafting pleadings, witness statements, settlement agreements, and instructions to counsel.
- Managing proceedings in the County Court, High Court, and First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber).
- Engaging in Alternative Dispute Resolution, including mediation.
- Supervising and supporting junior team members, where appropriate.
- Collaborating with the broader Real Estate team to provide strategic dispute advice.
- Assisting with business development initiatives and nurturing client and referrer relationships.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 2-6 years PQE in property litigation.
- Solid experience in landlord & tenant law and broader real estate disputes.
- Confident managing your own caseload with appropriate supervision.
- Excellent drafting, advocacy, communication, and client-handling skills.
- Commercially aware, proactive, and solution-focused.
- Collaborative team player, committed to a supportive working environment.
- Experience supervising junior lawyers (for Senior Associate level).
- Enthusiastic about business development and growing client relationships.
