A well-regarded law firm is seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor (3 - 6 years PQE) to join its specialist Private Client team. This role offers the opportunity to work with high-net-worth (HNW) individuals, entrepreneurs, company directors, and shareholders, providing expert legal advice on complex private client matters. The successful candidate will be based in the Milton Keynes and Northampton offices, with occasional travel to other locations as required.
The Private Client Solicitor will be responsible for managing a diverse and high-value caseload, including:
- Advising HNW clients on tax planning, wills, and wealth protection
- Handling trusts, trust corporations, and family investment companies
- Managing high-value probates, including estates with foreign elements
- Advising on inheritance tax planning, including Business Property Relief & Agricultural Property Relief
- Drafting and advising on lasting powers of attorney
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3 - 6 years' PQE in private client law, gained in a city firm or medium/large provincial practice
- Strong experience working with HNW clients and handling complex tax planning matters
- Expertise in trusts, estate administration, and inheritance tax planning
- Commercial awareness and the ability to collaborate with corporate and commercial teams
- Excellent client care skills, particularly when advising entrepreneurs and business owners
- The ability to lead and manage teams effectively
- A proactive approach to business development and networking
A STEP qualification (or working towards it) would be advantageous but is not essential.
Key Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong drafting skills and technical expertise in private client law
- Confidence and ability to communicate effectively at a senior level
- Excellent negotiation and organisational skills
- A track record in business development and a keen interest in expanding the firm's private client offering
