A highly regarded international law firm is seeking an ambitious and entrepreneurial partner to lead and grow its Trade Finance and Structured Finance practice. This is a rare opportunity for a senior finance lawyer to take ownership of a strategically important practice area within a well-established international platform. The firm is committed to investing in the growth of its finance offering and is seeking a partner with the vision, market credibility and leadership skills to build a market-leading practice.
The role will suit an established partner or senior finance lawyer with significant experience advising banks, export credit agencies, financial institutions, lessors, investors and corporate clients on complex cross-border financing transactions. Whilst trade finance experience is of particular interest, the firm is equally keen to speak with lawyers from broader asset finance, export finance, structured finance and transportation finance backgrounds.
A significant strength of the platform is its established maritime practice, which forms a core part of the firm's business and client base. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with a highly regarded maritime team and leverage existing relationships across the shipping, transportation, logistics and international trade sectors. This provides a unique opportunity to develop a finance practice alongside a market-recognised sector specialism with strong existing client demand.
Importantly, the opportunity is not solely dependent on bringing a standalone practice. There is an existing flow of finance-related work within the firm, including opportunities generated through its maritime, international trade, corporate and commercial practices. The successful candidate will benefit from strong internal referral networks and a collaborative partnership committed to cross-selling and practice development.
The firm is open to considering a team move where there is a compelling strategic fit. Whether that involves associates, counsel or fellow partners, there is flexibility to support the growth of the practice and ensure the successful candidate has the resources required to establish and expand the offering effectively.
The firm is particularly interested in individuals who can demonstrate:
- Strong financial institutions experience.
- Expertise in trade finance, export finance, asset finance, structured finance or related areas.
- A track record of leading complex domestic and international financing transactions.
- Established client relationships and business development capability.
- Leadership experience and the ability to develop and mentor teams.
- A strategic and entrepreneurial approach to practice growth.
This is an equity-level opportunity offering the chance to shape and lead a key strategic practice area, supported by a respected international platform, a strong maritime sector focus, existing client demand and genuine investment from the firm's leadership. For the right individual, this represents an opportunity not simply to join a firm, but to build and define a practice with the backing, infrastructure and market presence needed to achieve long-term success.
All enquiries will be treated in the strictest confidence. Please apply as directed or contact Catherine Knowles for a confidential discussion.
