A leading international law firm is seeking a highly accomplished lawyer (either partner or senior associate/counsel stepping up) to join its expanding Tax Disputes practice in London. This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior tax professional or solicitor with a strong track record in complex cross-border tax disputes, enforcement matters, and advisory work relating to corporate, indirect, and digital taxes.
The Role
- Lead high-value, complex tax disputes on behalf of multinational corporates and high-profile clients, representing them before HMRC, tribunals, and courts.
- Provide strategic advice on tax compliance, voluntary disclosure, and enforcement risk mitigation, including criminal and civil investigations.
- Develop and manage multi-disciplinary teams to deliver sophisticated, client-focused solutions in high-stakes environments.
- Actively contribute to the growth and development of the practice, helping shape strategy and market positioning.
- Build and maintain trusted client relationships, advising at board and senior management level on contentious tax matters, risk management, and regulatory impact.
Your Background
- Qualification as a solicitor, chartered accountant, or tax adviser, ideally with a combination of legal and accounting credentials.
- Significant experience in corporate tax disputes, investigations, and enforcement proceedings (UK and cross-border).
- Strong familiarity with HMRC processes, tax tribunals, and regulatory frameworks, including transfer pricing, VAT, digital services tax, and BEPS-related matters.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage high-stakes matters, and develop client relationships at senior levels.
- A strategic thinker with genuine enthusiasm for growing the practice and delivering market-leading advice.
