Senior Leasehold Enfranchisement Solicitor
Location: South West London (Office-Based)
Salary: £50,000 to £60,000+ DOE
Job Type: Full-Time
About the Role
A well-established specialist property law firm based in South West London is seeking an experienced Leasehold Enfranchisement Solicitor to join its growing team.
This is a genuine specialist position and is not a general residential conveyancing or broad property role. We are looking for a solicitor with substantial, hands‑on expertise in leasehold enfranchisement and complex landlord and tenant matters who can provide senior technical leadership and supervision across the department.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to manage complex enfranchisement matters and provide technical oversight across a team of junior fee‑earners. Work will include:
- Statutory lease extensions under the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993
- Collective enfranchisement and freehold acquisitions
- Right of First Refusal matters
- Missing landlord applications
- First‑tier Tribunal and court applications arising from enfranchisement disputes
- Complex leasehold and title structures
- Deeds of variation, lease re‑grants and new leases
- General leasehold and landlord and tenant advisory work
Team Leadership & Supervision
A significant element of this role involves supervising a team of six junior fee‑earners.
You will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and overseeing active caseloads
- Supervising deadlines and client service standards
- Checking notices, reports, leases and other substantive legal documents
- Providing guidance on complex technical issues
- Identifying and managing legal and procedural risks
- Acting as the primary escalation point before director involvement is required
- Supporting the development and technical growth of junior lawyers
This role would suit someone who enjoys mentoring and supervision and can provide strong technical judgement across a specialist practice area.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
- Demonstrable recent experience in leasehold enfranchisement
- Strong technical knowledge of the 1993 Act and related legislation
- Experience handling complex enfranchisement matters from instruction through to completion
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring or managing junior lawyers or fee‑earners
- Ability to review and sign off substantive legal work confidently
Desirable:
- Experience acting for both leaseholders and landlords
- Tribunal advocacy or litigation experience connected to enfranchisement matters
- Experience with complex title structures and specialist leasehold arrangements
Important Note for Applicants
This role requires substantial and demonstrable leasehold enfranchisement experience . Applications from candidates whose experience is primarily residential conveyancing, plot sales, or general property transactions without significant enfranchisement expertise are unlikely to be suitable.
