We are seeking an experienced specialist in both Corporate Tax and R&D to join our Tax department. You will be supporting the Tax Partners in building and maintaining tax relationships, overseeing high-quality advisory work, and leading the delivery of complex Corporate Tax and R&D assignments. You will also play a key leadership role in managing and developing the Tax team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage your own portfolio of tax clients of Corporate Tax and R&D clients, ensuring excellent service delivery and strong commercial outcomes.
  • Provide expert technical advice across a wide range of Corporate Tax and R&D matters, including structuring, incentives, and innovation-related tax reliefs.
  • Review and quality‑assure work completed by team members, ensuring a high technical standard and a pragmatic, business-focused approach.
  • Coach and mentor junior colleagues with hands-on advice and support.
  • Be proactive with clients, identifying planning opportunities and advising on changes to tax rules that may impact them.
  • In conjunction with the Partners, provide technical tax advice on a variety of assignments, including international projects, and provide a high level of client service.
  • Support the Partner in the operational running of the department, including billing fees and managing the billing process.
  • Proactively contribute to departmental and firm-wide business development activities with the goal of winning new clients and consulting opportunities.

Requirements

  • CA or CTA qualification or breadth of knowledge to equivalent level.
  • Experienced Tax Practitioner with excellent technical and reviewing skills.
  • Expertise in R&D matters, including:
  • Preparing and reviewing R&D tax relief claims (SME & RDEC).
  • Identifying qualifying R&D activities and expenditure.
  • Advising on R&D legislative changes and compliance requirements.
  • Managing HMRC R&D enquiries and information requests.
  • Strong client and employee management experience.
  • Client driven and commercially aware.
  • Organised with the ability to cope with multiple responsibilities within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent technical knowledge with a proactive approach to CPD.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a commitment to high standards of both personal and professional performance, with the ability to take ownership of tasks.
  • Computer literate with experience in Tax software packages is essential.
