We are seeking a full-time Accounts Assistant to join our Accounting and Business Solutions Team to be based in one of our offices in Dundee Office. The successful candidate would have a key role in supporting managers and partners in delivering high-quality accountancy services. This includes preparing financial accounts, management reports, and bookkeeping/VAT services for a diverse range of clients.

What does the role include?

  • Prepare financial statements for a range of clients, including limited companies, in line with FRS 105 and FRS 102, partnerships and LLPs.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts for a range of owner managed businesses.
  • Prepare charity accounts and understand the principles of fund accounting and Charities SORP compliance.
  • Conduct independent examinations of charity financial statements on both accruals and receipts & payments basis.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments—such as tax and payroll—to ensure efficient and accurate service delivery.
  • Build professional relationships with clients, responding to queries confidently and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Support the wider team by assisting with ad‑hoc tasks, administrative duties and involvement in internal projects.

What We Are Looking For

  • AAT qualified or part-qualified CA/ACCA, or qualified by experience.
  • Have a minimum of 18 months of experience within a professional accounting practice.
  • Strong numerical and data analysis skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as CCH, Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and a client‑focused approach.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse financial data, and apply problem‑solving skills.
  • Positive, proactive and flexible attitude with a commitment to delivering high‑quality work and continuous development.
  • A strong team player who enjoys working collaboratively and taking ownership of their responsibilities.

You’ll have the chance to use/expand your skills in handling independent examinations for charities and preparing monthly/quarterly management accounts for clients across various sectors.
