A look into the role

Reporting to the Assistant Manager and/or Store Manager you will help to lead the store team to provide a shopping experience that exceeds our customers’ expectations and makes a difference in the local community. As Team Leader you will:

  • Lead the store team to follow store policies, standards and practices alongside the Assistant Manager and/or Store Manager.
  • Take responsibility for the store in the absence of other leaders (includes keyholder responsibility).
  • Be a positive role model to the team and represent our values of Ambition, Customer First, Teamwork and Integrity.
  • Train, manage the workload and support your team, whilst being hands‑on in store – ensuring teamwork to achieve the right resources in the right place at the right time to deliver the best customer experience.
  • Support the Store Manager to maximise store performance which includes understanding and implementing the store plan and priorities.
  • Actively promote and get involved in initiatives to support the local community.
  • Cover the Post Office when required as part of this role.

Skills for Success

Minimum criteria:

  • Be aged 18 years or over and have previous store retail experience, at least 6 months at a supervisory level leading a team in a customer‑focused environment.
  • Have a natural ability to listen, interact and communicate with customers and team members.
  • Be target‑driven to help the store achieve its business plans/priorities and focused on continuous improvement.
  • Be able to inspire everyone to do their best for each other and the customer.

Working Hours

Full‑time permanent position at 37.5 per week, working Monday to Sunday, 6:00am to 11:00pm, with a degree of flexibility required to cover a variety of shifts including opening at 6:00am, closing at 11:00pm and weekends will be expected. Shortlisted candidates will have the opportunity to discuss working hours and shift patterns in further detail at interview.
