Henderson Group are proud to be Northern Ireland’s leading foodservice provider. Our group encompasses Henderson Wholesale, Henderson Retail, Henderson Foodservice and Henderson Group Property. We employ over 5,500 staff and have been placed 3rd in Ulster Business Top 100 Companies 2025.

Henderson Wholesale plays a vital role in supplying our SPAR, EUROSPAR and VIVO stores, as well as supporting our wider foodservice operations. Within this, our Fresh Foods operation is a fast-paced, high-volume environment focused on accuracy, efficiency and maintaining the highest standards of quality and food safety across chilled and fresh product ranges.

As our Nightshift Team Leader, you will take responsibility for coordinating a busy, multi-skilled warehouse team across assembly, loading, replenishment and forking activities. You’ll plan and allocate colleagues and equipment throughout the shift, responding to changing operational demands to ensure orders are assembled accurately, stock moves efficiently through the warehouse and vehicles are loaded safely and ready to depart on time. This is a hands-on leadership role, so you’ll be visible on the warehouse floor and ready to provide practical support wherever it is needed.

You’ll keep a close eye on productivity, accuracy, quality and hygiene standards, stepping in quickly when issues arise and making sure sufficient manpower is available to maintain a smooth and consistent flow of product throughout the operation. People leadership will be an important part of your role. You’ll set clear expectations, encourage teamwork and accountability, and support colleagues to build their skills, confidence and performance. You’ll also assist with day-to-day performance conversations and help address attendance, conduct or capability concerns fairly and consistently, in line with company procedures.

Working closely with colleagues across different departments, you’ll communicate priorities, resolve operational challenges and help ensure each area of the nightshift works together seamlessly. Where processes are not followed or standards fall short, you’ll investigate what has happened, identify the root cause and put practical measures in place to prevent the issue from happening again. Above all, you’ll lead by example, creating a positive, safety-focused working environment while identifying better ways of working and contributing to continuous improvement across the nightshift warehouse operation.

Joining us as a Fresh Team Leader, the minimum criteria you’ll need is:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a relevant logistics or warehouse role.
  • Experience across warehouse activities such as order assembly, loading, replenishment, goods-in, put-away or stock movement.
  • A current Reach Truck licence (up to 10m).
  • Experience using RF equipment and warehouse management systems.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong health and safety awareness.
  • Experience providing guidance, supervision or leadership to colleagues.

The attributes you’ll need:

  • A proactive and driven attitude, with the ambition to take ownership of your area and continuously look for ways to improve how things are done.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others, demonstrating strong teamwork skills.
  • A self-starter mindset, confident in working on your own initiative and taking action when opportunities for improvement arise.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately within set deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and respond to changing operational demands.
  • The ability to influence, motivate and encourage others to perform to the best of their ability.
  • A solution-focused and improvement-driven approach, with the confidence to identify operational challenges and suggest practical ways to improve processes and efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage effectively with warehouse teams as well as senior leaders and managers.
  • The ability to work with integrity, managing people fairly, consistently and in line with company standards.

It is desirable if you have:

  • Previous experience managing or supervising a team within an operational environment.
  • Manual Handling training.
  • Additional relevant MHE licences, such as LLOP or Powered Pallet Truck.
  • First Aid training.
  • Experience supporting performance management or continuous improvement activities.

Our Values:

  • Ambition – We always strive to be better. We seek new challenges and look for ways to do things better.
  • Customer First – We provide exceptional service. We put customers at the heart of everything and support our communities.

The Reward: Benefits include market competitive salary, company car, bonus, contributory pension scheme, healthcare, life assurance, employee assistance programme, social club, discount scheme throughout UK/Ireland, staff discount (grocery/fuel) at SPAR/EUROSPAR Henderson Group company-owned stores and many more.

The Hours: The successful applicant will be working 38 hours per week, working 4 days out of 7, 8pm to 6am. Days of work will be Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday. A degree of flexibility outside of these hours, or on alternative days will also be required in line with the business needs.
