About the Role
Based at our Dublin depot, the Driver Team Leader will continue in their own driving role while taking on an exciting extra responsibility, mentoring and supporting a team of 25-30 drivers. You will be a key point of contact, helping your team follow company processes, embrace new initiatives and consistently deliver first‑class service to our customers.
Key responsibilities
- Support growth and development of the ROI transport operation, embedding high standards, service levels and ways of working.
- Build and lead a high‑performing, safety‑focused driver team; onboard and develop new drivers, providing training, coaching and performance feedback.
- Plan routes, develop driver rotas, delegate runs and conduct daily driver briefings to maintain operational efficiency.
- Promote best practice, identify opportunities to improve service levels, reduce costs and drive efficiencies.
- Support loading activities, manage overflow, and ensure trailers are ready for depot operations.
- Maintain full compliance with transport legislation, driver hours, tachograph requirements and vehicle safety standards.
- Support rollout and adoption of new technologies and ways of working, building confidence in operational systems.
- Act as a key link between drivers, management and customers, ensuring safe and professional deliveries in line with business expectations.
- Provide operational assistance where required to maintain service levels and minimise disruption.
Skills for Success
- Valid in‑date Category B licence.
- Minimum 3 years of multi‑drop driving experience within a fast‑paced delivery environment.
- Minimum 2 years of leading a team of at least 10 people.
- Working knowledge of Fleet.
- Efficient use of new technology including Transend or similar handheld/EPOS devices.
- Good geographic knowledge of Dublin and surrounding areas.
- Knowledge of drivers’ hours regulations and tachograph legislation.
- Experience in route planning and identifying operational efficiencies.
- Experience in supporting service levels and ensuring timely, efficient customer deliveries within a fast‑paced multi‑drop operation.
- Experience delivering team briefs and operational updates.
