A look into the role: Are you a skilled butcher ready to take the next step in your career? Fergus Butchery is expanding and we're looking for experienced butchers to join our growing team. You'll join our friendly team to deliver first class customer service, quality & presentation at the butchery counter, maintain great hygiene standards, and prepare a range of pre-packed products. You'll be supported by a team of brilliant people, and there are fantastic career development and progression opportunities.

As Butcher you will:

  • Provide a first-class service to all of our customers.
  • Listen to and understand our customers' needs and advise customers about our products and services.
  • Portion, arrange and present food to the required specification.
  • Ensure stock is displayed in the correct position to attract sales, the correct price is displayed, alongside effective stock rotation practices to reduce wastage.
  • Exercise and enforce constant watch over Health & Safety, Security, Discipline and Due Diligence.
  • Carry out food safety control checks in all areas to ensure all standards are being maintained and recorded in accordance with food safety regulations.
  • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness in the Butchery Department (front and back) is maintained at all times.
  • Work closely with and assist other members of the team with other duties of a similar nature or level of responsibility as required.
  • Undertake other duties as required for the role.

Skills for Success: If you are an experienced skilled butcher, that's ideal! As a minimum, you'll have previously worked in a Butchery environment and will have established some meat cutting skills. Further training can be provided, with the opportunity to build your knowledge and skills in this important service area. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude, attention to detail and an enthusiasm to help expand and develop our butchery offering. Candidates must be aged 18 years or above. Applicants should note that based on the response, the company may increase the shortlisting criteria.
