A look into the role: Working within a fast‑paced kitchen, the Kitchen Assistant will assist with movement, storage, rotation of goods, packing freshly cooked products, labeling, stock control, chef assistance, cleaning, and other duties as required.
- Receive goods‑in ensuring all legislative requirements, quality specification and shelf life are adhered to.
- Ensure effective stock rotation practices are in place to use older products first and reduce wastage.
- Assist Chef & Cook in the preparation of ingredients as required.
- Assist with stock control procedures and ordering.
- Perform kitchen porter duties including cleaning and maintaining machines and production areas.
- Ensure packaging and other items are stored correctly.
- Accurately record any damages or wastage.
- Prepare, clean, adjust and maintain printing equipment, ensuring accurate information is printed on labels in line with regulations.
- Ensure enough labels are printed to cover the production planned for the day.
- Work across all areas of the department when needed, including deli and bakery.
- Other duties as required.
Skills for Success:
- A flair and enthusiasm for cooking with fresh quality ingredients.
- Ability to deliver at pace while ensuring the highest quality of food.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office.
- Experience working in a fresh food production kitchen (desirable).
- Previous supervisory experience (desirable).
- Experience working to budgets and/or targets (desirable).
