HD-Tech are proud to be partnering with one of our long-standing construction clients to recruit a talented Mechanical Services Design Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading fit-out and refurbishment contractor, working on high-profile commercial projects across London and the South East. Position: Mechanical Services Design Engineer Location: London Reporting to: Mechanical Services Director Overview: You will be an integral part of the pre-construction team, responsible for the design of HVAC, water, and waste services. Your focus will be on delivering compliant, high-quality, and scope-aligned designs from concept through to detailed stage. Key Responsibilities: * Assist in scoping and quantifying mechanical and public health services requirements * Develop detailed designs in line with performance specifications (including RIBA Stage 4) * Select appropriate mechanical plant and equipment * Conduct thermal modelling using IES or similar software * Produce detailed mechanical and PH layouts, schematics, and drawings using AutoCAD and Revit * Accurately size ductwork and pipework systems * Prepare equipment schedules (e.g., FCUs, AHUs, HRUs, attenuators, grilles, fire dampers) * Compile technical submissions and reports for client and consultant review * Coordinate designs with other building services to avoid clashes and ensure project integration * Carry out site surveys and provide ongoing design support throughout the project lifecycle * Ensure compliance with building regulations, health and safety standards, and best industry practices * Provide support and mentorship to junior engineers * Adhere to all internal quality, environmental, and health & safety policies Skills & Experience Required: Essential: * Minimum of 5 yearsβ experience in mechanical and public health services design * Proficient in AutoCAD * Degree qualified in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering * Strong understanding of thermodynamics and experience with thermal modelling software Desirable: * Experience in commercial D&B (Design & Build) projects * Proficiency with IES VE and Revit * Familiarity with AutoCAD MEP * Background in mechanical services design for commercial fit-out projects
