HD Tech are partnering with a well‑established construction business in London to appoint an Infrastructure Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly regarded organisation that delivers new build, refurbishment and fit‑out projects for a portfolio of prestigious UK and international clients. With a strong reputation for quality, collaboration and technical excellence, the business is continuing to invest in its internal technology function and is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to play a key role in supporting and improving its IT environment.
The Role
Working closely with the IT Director, the Infrastructure Engineer will take ownership of the day‑to‑day operation, security and ongoing development of the company's IT infrastructure. This is a hands‑on position, supporting both head office users and operational construction sites, ensuring systems remain secure, reliable and fit for purpose. The successful candidate will work across infrastructure, networking, cloud technologies and user support, while liaising with internal stakeholders, third‑party suppliers and external consultants.
Key Responsibilities
- Network & Infrastructure
- Implement, manage and support Fortinet technologies including FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiClient VPN
- Manage firewall policies, VPNs, SD‑WAN and network segmentation
- Monitor logs and security events, supporting ongoing improvements to network security architecture
- Deliver and maintain connectivity solutions across multiple sites, including FTTP, Starlink and 4G/5G
- Configure and support site networking equipment to ensure secure, reliable access to business systems
- Provide both remote and on‑site support for connectivity and infrastructure issues
- Administer Windows Server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and file services
- Support Hyper‑V virtualised environments
- Manage and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL Server environments
- Support Microsoft 365 technologies including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Endpoint and Entra ID
- Assist with the administration of Azure resources
- Apply cyber security best practice across systems and networks
- Support patching, vulnerability management and system hardening
- Assist with incident response, investigation and remediation
- Help maintain compliance with IT policies and external security standards
- Provide 1st to 3rd line technical support where required
- Contribute to infrastructure projects, continuous improvement initiatives and technical documentation
Skills & Experience
- Strong background in infrastructure engineering and systems administration
- Proven hands‑on experience with Fortinet products, particularly FortiGate, FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer
- Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs and SD‑WAN
- Good understanding of cyber security principles and best practice
- Experience administering Microsoft 365 environments
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA or similar would be beneficial
