Job Description
A leading UK manufacturer and distributor with a diverse portfolio of consumer products is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Health & Safety. With multiple operational sites across the country and continued growth, the business is looking for a senior H&S professional to take full ownership of the group-wide health and safety strategy.
The Opportunity
This is a high-impact role reporting into the Head of Operations. You’ll be working across manufacturing and warehousing operations, supporting Site Managers and engaging senior stakeholders to create a strong, consistent safety-first culture across the group.
You’ll lead the development and implementation of a unified H&S strategy, ensure full legal compliance, manage internal audits, and champion behavioural safety at every level of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a consistent, group-level Health & Safety strategy
- Support and challenge site leaders to ensure full HSE compliance
- Lead internal audits and drive continuous improvement
- Manage and investigate serious incidents and implement corrective actions
- Oversee and manage H&S claims and relationships with insurers
- Champion a strong safety-first culture across all levels of the business
- Deliver monthly campaigns and engagement initiatives
- Provide coaching and mentoring to operational teams
What We’re Looking For
- NEBOSH-qualified (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a senior, multi-site H&S role
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation and best practices
- Experience in manufacturing, logistics, or distribution environments
- Ability to influence at all levels, from shop floor to senior leadership
- Excellent reporting, auditing, and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel regularly across UK sites
- Based within approx. 1 hour radius of Manchester
