Our client is a leading waste management business supporting customers across the UK with compliant, safe, and sustainable waste solutions. With a strong focus on operational excellence and environmental responsibility, they play a critical role in managing complex waste streams within a regulated environment.
They are now looking to appoint a Site Chemist to join their onsite operations team in Staffordshire.
The Role
Working closely with site management and operational teams, the Site Chemist will support the safe and compliant processing of waste through a busy transfer station. This is a hands-on, practical role combining chemical inspection, sampling, documentation, and day-to-day site support.
You will be responsible for ensuring incoming and outgoing waste meets regulatory and permit requirements, while maintaining high standards of safety, housekeeping, and compliance.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Inspect and assess incoming waste loads to ensure they meet pre-acceptance criteria
- Use chemical knowledge and basic wet chemistry techniques to identify and verify waste contents
- Support the preparation, segregation, and consolidation of outgoing waste loads
- Raise and manage non-conformances where waste falls outside agreed parameters
- Carry out sampling, testing, and stock control in line with site permits
- Complete all required documentation, consignment notes, and site records
- Work closely with site operatives and other technical colleagues to keep the site safe, compliant, and organised
- Support occasional off-site activities once fully trained and experienced
