Reporting into the Technical Manager, this is a critical leadership role where you'll be the site authority for hygiene, owning end-to-end environmental and equipment cleaning standards within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You'll shape strategy, lead people, and drive continuous improvement to ensure the site is audit-ready, compliant, and operating at gold-standard hygiene levels every day.

What you'll be doing as the Hygiene Manager:

  • Lead and execute the site hygiene strategy, ensuring consistently high standards across environmental and asset hygiene with full audit readiness.
  • Manage and develop a multi-shift hygiene team, coaching, mentoring and setting clear expectations to deliver effective cleaning schedules and performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with retailer, co-manufacturing, legal and certification hygiene requirements, including BRCGS and customer codes of practice.
  • Own hygiene systems and documentation, including CICs, COSHH, training matrices and cleaning validation.
  • Control hygiene budgets, chemicals and consumables, balancing cost control with operational effectiveness.
  • Lead and support customer, retailer and third-party audits, confidently demonstrating hygiene controls and standards.
  • Investigate hygiene non-conformances, driving robust root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Manage pest control contractors and continuous improvement initiatives, strengthening site resilience and long-term hygiene performance.

What you'll need as the Hygiene Manager:

  • Experience leading or managing a hygiene team within a UK food manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Extensive training with chemical handling is essential.
  • Experience of reviewing and implementing a new shift structure is highly advantageous.
  • Full UK working rights - no sponsorship or visas available.
