We're partnering with a leading food manufacturer to recruit a Raw Materials Technologist to join its Technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in food manufacturing, Quality, Technical, Specifications, or Compliance who is looking to specialise in raw material assurance, supplier approval, and food compliance. You don't need to have every answer from day one. What matters is your attention to detail, analytical mindset, willingness to learn, and genuine interest in food safety and technical compliance.

Hours: Monday-Friday | 08:30-16:30 | 37.5 hours per week
What You'll Be Doing:
- Review, assess, and approve raw material specifications, ensuring ingredients meet relevant food safety, legal, customer, quality, and nutritional requirements.
- Support the supplier approval and assurance programme, reviewing supplier documentation, certifications, questionnaires, and compliance information for both new and existing suppliers.
- Assess raw materials against key technical requirements including HACCP, allergen management, traceability, food legislation, authenticity, and responsible sourcing standards.
- Maintain accurate specifications, supplier records, technical data, and approval documentation across internal technical and specification management systems.
- Work closely with Procurement, Technical, NPD, Quality, and external suppliers, resolving specification queries and ensuring technical requirements are clearly understood.
- Support responsible sourcing and sustainability compliance, including schemes such as SEDEX, Rainforest Alliance, and RSPO.
- Investigate raw material and specification issues, identifying risks and supporting corrective actions, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement.
- Keep up to date with changes in food legislation, customer requirements, supplier standards, and industry best practice, helping to strengthen the site's overall technical compliance.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience within food manufacturing essential (Production, Operations, QA, Technical etc).
- Previous quality, technical, specifications or compliance exposure beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to review complex technical information, identify discrepancies, and make well-informed decisions.
- A good understanding of food safety, HACCP, allergens, traceability, food legislation, and supplier compliance.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to work with suppliers and cross-functional internal teams.
