The Opportunity

We're supporting a large, well-established multi-site business with the appointment of a Procurement Manager within its procurement team. You'll own a portfolio of specialist indirect categories. You'll also manage a Buyer of your own. Experience in these categories is a bonus rather than a requirement. Strong indirect procurement capability, and the ability to get to grips with new categories quickly, matter more. You'll travel to sites and suppliers across the UK as needed, with expenses covered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and develop category strategies across a portfolio of specialist indirect categories.
  • Run tenders, negotiations and contracts with specialist suppliers and service providers.
  • Manage supplier performance, risk and continuity of service across operational sites.
  • Own category budgets and reforecast monthly, delivering savings and value.
  • Line manage and develop a Buyer.

What We're Looking For

You’ll have end-to-end indirect procurement experience at Senior Buyer or Manager level, with strong tendering, contracting and supplier management. Category and industry background are open, and you don’t need to come from any particular sector. Experience of managing service contracts with real operational impact would be useful, whether in facilities, maintenance, agriculture, animal health or elsewhere. What matters most is adaptability, the ability to juggle several priorities, and building excellent supplier relationships.

The business will consider established Procurement Managers and high-calibre Senior Buyers ready to step up. Previous people management is an advantage but not essential.

Why Join?

This is an unusual indirect portfolio, with specialist, operationally critical categories close to the core of the business. You'll join a procurement team with real spend and scale behind it, in a business with a strong record of promoting its people. For a Senior Buyer, it's a clear step up into a Manager role with a direct report. The process is a single on-site interview.

The package is up to £60,000 plus a £6,000 car allowance, a 5% matched pension and benefits, with hybrid working. If you're interested in learning more, we'd be happy to have a confidential conversation.
