Payroll Manager
The Opportunity

We're recruiting a Payroll Manager for a well-established organisation in Bicester.

This is a hands-on role taking responsibility for both monthly payroll for salaried employees and weekly payroll for a casual workforce, with support from a Payroll Administrator.

It could suit someone already working as a Payroll Supervisor, Senior Payroll Administrator or Payroll Officer who has good end-to-end payroll experience and is ready to take on more responsibility.

You'll be involved across the full payroll cycle, from processing employee changes and maintaining payroll data through to pensions, reconciliations and answering payroll queries.

Bicester

Full-time | Hybrid - typically 4 days onsite / 1 day working from home, with flexibility open to discussion

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time.
  • Process starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, statutory payments and deductions.
  • Maintain accurate payroll and employee records.
  • Support pension administration and payroll reconciliations.
  • Respond to payroll queries from employees and managers.
  • Provide day-to-day support and guidance to a Payroll Administrator.
  • Help identify straightforward improvements to payroll processes and systems.

What We're Looking For

You don't need to have spent years working at Payroll Manager level.

The key thing is that you have a good understanding of end-to-end UK payroll and enough practical experience to feel confident taking responsibility for your own payroll cycles.

You're likely to have

  • Around two years or more practical payroll experience.
  • Experience supporting or managing an end-to-end payroll process.
  • A good understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • Confidence dealing with payroll data, employee changes and queries.
  • Good Excel skills and experience using payroll systems.

Experience with weekly, variable-hours or casual payroll would be useful, but isn't essential.

CIPP qualification would be welcomed but is not required.

Why Join?

This is a good next step for someone who wants more ownership without moving away from the hands-on side of payroll.

You'll have responsibility for a varied payroll, support from a Payroll Administrator and the opportunity to build broader experience across systems, pensions, reporting and payroll processes.

The role is typically four days onsite and one day working from home, although there is openness to discussing flexibility. xiskglj
