Hemiko are recruiting for a HIU Senior Engineer reporting to the Technical Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering operation and maintenance services across our fleet of heat networks. We are looking for someone who has experience with servicing and repairing HIUs, with at least 3 years relevant experience of working with HIUs of various brands. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable, reliable, and contribute positively to our safe and supportive working culture.
About Hemiko: Hemiko is a fast-growing innovative business which is looking to invest in and deliver over £1bn of heat network projects in the coming years. We fund, design, build, operate, and maintain low carbon district energy networks and building energy systems. This work is for communities, towns, and cities. We work with local authorities, developers, house builders, and property owners. We are looking to lead on town and city scale decarbonisation.
The Role: Hemiko are seeking a HIU Senior Engineer to work under/with our Technical Manager to learn and develop while delivering value to the Operations Department. The successful candidate will have a strong competency within the HIU field, with 3 years working as a HIU service engineer. They need to have experience servicing HIUs of various manufacturers and be able to fault find and replace parts comfortably. Experience in district heating networks is preferred but not essential.
Candidate: We are looking for someone who is organised, self-motivated, and positive in their outlook. The candidate will be able to work as part of a functional HIU team and the project team(s) to which they are assigned and take ownership and fulfil their tasks to a high standard and on time. They will need to be comfortable communicating with team members, as well as external clients and their respective site-based teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Working under the direct supervision of our Technical Manager
- Completion of planned preventative maintenance activities in line with company maintenance schedules
- Servicing HIUs and repair works
- Completion of fault finding and repairs to HIUs whilst working on the on-call rota
- Attend reactive callouts to sites to reinstate heat and resolve HIU failures
- Take part in an on-call rota and attend callouts (typically 1 week in 4)
- Review root causes for HIU failure (resolve operational issues which arise)
- Management of site-based project work and development of the scope of works for plant remediation
- Very good rate first time fixes
- Safe isolation of equipment before commencing works
- Be a Brand Ambassador (specialist in certain model/manufacturer of relevant equipment)
- Proactive in recognising H&S improvements and incentives
- Consistently working autonomously & often providing technical support to other members of the team
- Good communication with the team always
- Ensure your own system records are kept up to date to ensure accurate and secure records
- Assist with 1 and 12 monthly mechanical PPM checks within plant rooms
- Carry out in-house training to develop engineers
- Assist in preparing commissioning procedures
Knowledge & Experience:
- 3 years of experience working as a HIU service engineer
- Part P and Part G
- Knowledge of heat network energy centres and plant rooms
- Able to read technical drawings e.g., P&IDs & mechanical schematics
- Electrical competency (basic)
- Competent with safe isolation (mechanical and electrical)
- Full UK driving license (valid for at least 12 months)
Remuneration: Base £40,000-50,000. Discretionary bonus based on individual and business performance. An inclusive culture that promotes diversity.
