Helston Medical Centre and Porthleven Surgery are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Dispenser to join our expanding friendly and dynamic team. The successful candidate will be based at Helston Medical Centre 2 days per week, working pattern to be confirmed.
To be responsible for the processing of prescriptions in accordance with practice policy and relevant legislation. In addition, the post-holder will be required to support the Dispensary Lead in ensuring a high-level of service is delivered at all times, whilst supporting the multidisciplinary team in line with the strategic objectives of the practice.
Main duties of the job:
- Take responsibility for checking all dispensed medications to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
- Dispense medicines safely and accurately to registered patients within the local community.
- Collect prescription charges in line with dispensary procedures.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels, working with the Dispensary Lead to arrange reordering when necessary.
- Receive and store supplies in accordance with current policies, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where required.
- Ensure controlled drugs are dispensed in compliance with practice policies.
- Safely dispose of returned and/or expired medications.
- Process all repeat prescriptions within a two-working-day timeframe.
- Provide patients with advice on prescription-related queries.
- Handle prescription requests via telephone and in person.
- Support the Dispensary Lead with the preparation of monthly returns.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment at all times.
