Role Description

This full-time Care Assistant role is based in Gateshead and focuses on supporting individuals in their own homes with daily living tasks. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with personal care, mobility, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and medication prompts in line with individual care plans. The Care Assistant will provide companionship, emotional support, and encourage independence while maintaining dignity and privacy at all times. The role also involves clear communication with customers, families, and colleagues, documenting care activities accurately, and following health and safety and safeguarding procedures. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, person‑centered care are essential.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities to build trust and rapport with customers and colleagues.
  • Candidates should possess caregiving experience or a genuine interest in care work, including support with daily living tasks and personal care.
  • Candidates will be trained in manual handling and safe mobility support, following training and health and safety guidelines.
  • A caring, patient, and reliable approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, is essential.
  • Basic IT or mobile device skills to use electronic care systems, and the ability to travel locally to customers’ homes is required.
