Helm Operations is hiring a Business Development Engineer to own new opportunity generation across Europe. This is a backfill for a previously Portugal-based role, and it restores dedicated, locally embedded coverage to a region that is a stated growth priority for the company.

You will work remotely from within Europe, operating in regional business hours, and will be the first point of contact for European maritime operators evaluating Helm CONNECT. You will work closely with the Account Executive covering the Eurozone and Middle East, who takes ownership of the opportunities you generate.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own outbound prospecting for the European territory, building and maintaining a segmented, prioritised target account list.
  • Research prospective accounts — fleet composition, operational profile, incumbent systems — to identify and prioritise genuine fit.
  • Run multi-channel outbound campaigns (email, phone, LinkedIn), working to a benchmark of approximately 10 contacts per demonstration booked.
  • Book and deliver product demonstrations of Helm CONNECT, targeting 30 completed demonstrations per quarter.
  • Qualify interest against defined criteria and hand qualified opportunities to Account Executives with complete context.
  • Maintain accurate records of activity, source attribution and opportunity status in CRM.
  • Use AI tools for account research, lead enrichment and drafting personalised outreach at scale, applying human judgement to qualification and messaging.
  • Feed regional market intelligence — competitive activity, buying patterns, regulatory drivers — back into International Sales planning.
  • Build and share a European prospecting playbook for the wider team.
  • Represent Helm at regional industry events and trade shows.

WHAT YOU'LL BRINGRequired

  • 2+ years of B2B sales development or business development experience, ideally in SaaS.
  • A track record of meeting outbound activity and qualified-opportunity targets.
  • Fluent Spanish and English.
  • Based in Europe with the right to work in your country of residence.
  • Comfort making first contact with operational and technical buyers, and resilience in an outbound role.
  • Practical fluency with AI tools for research, outreach and enrichment, and the judgement to know where they do not belong.

Nice to have

  • An additional European language (German, French, Italian, Portuguese).
  • Maritime, logistics, ports or heavy-asset industry exposure.
  • Experience prospecting into multiple countries or languages.
  • Familiarity with CRM discipline and source attribution practice.
