Helm Academy is an innovative new SEN school dedicated to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for children with diverse learning needs. As a specialist children’s home provider, our successful organic growth has led us to expand our mission, and we are excited to open our first Independent SEN & SEMH Specialist Schools (11-16) offering an alternative curriculum to young people with a range of SEMH special educational needs. Helm Academy are continually developing the specialist services to become the gold standard in SEN education, so there will be future opportunities for strong management candidates to manage multi-sites. Key Responsibilities
- Support the classroom teacher in planning and delivering high-quality lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEN.
- Work with individuals and small groups of students to provide targeted support and intervention.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to support student learning and well-being.
- Contribute to the overall development of the school’s inclusive practices.
- Lead small group activities and support learning plans under the direction of the teacher.
Entry Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience working in SEN settings, including experience in a minimum of two schools supporting students with MLD or SLD.
- Confidence and comfort in working with students with SLD, even if your prior experience has focused on MLD.
- Willingness to assist with some personal care tasks.
- A valid DBS registered on the Update Service is mandatory.
