What you'll be doing:

  • Provide technical input into all stages of the change lifecycle, including estimating, high-level design support, creating detailed designs, development, testing and code reviews.
  • Working as part of a team assisting in the evolution of the payments Middleware Integration Platform to keep fit for the future, support changing requirements and working practices in a fast-changing technology landscape. Identifying, implementing or suggesting changes that improve service to customers.
  • Engage and build relationships with business users and technical stakeholders to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues.
  • Bring experience and platform knowledge to bear on complex integration tasks, identifying technical risk, working with architects and developers to mitigate this risk using architecture spikes and proofs-of-concept.
  • Working with key stakeholders across business and technical domains.
  • Working as part of a wider team to share best practice.
  • Maintain an understanding of Payment industry strategies and best practice.
  • Ensure the closure of technical knowledge gaps (which if remained open would hinder issue resolution and change delivery).

We need you to have:

  • A proven track record with at least 8+ years of in-depth experience in integration technologies (IBM WMB / IIB / ACE) at an enterprise scale with a working knowledge of Java and/or C#.
  • Experience of working with multiple transport protocols (MQ, HTTP/REST, FTP, DB, etc) and messaging formats (CWF, JSON, SOAP/XML, etc).
  • In-depth knowledge and significant practical experience of defining and performing code reviews to drive software standards and best practices.
  • SDLC/Dev Ops - Git, CI/CD pipeline frameworks such as Jenkins/TFS, SonarQube, Nexus.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in Agile development (Scrum, Kanban) using tools such as Jira with a strong grasp of automation, continuous integration (CI/CD), test-driven development (TDD) using RIT as well as continuous refactoring.
