Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for a PowerServer Engineer to support the assessment, investigation, and strategic planning of existing PowerBuilder and PowerServer applications. This role is responsible for auditing legacy systems, identifying technical risks and improvement opportunities, and providing recommendations for optimization, modernization, or migration. The successful candidate will leverage strong analytical, consulting, and technical expertise to support strategic decision-making while collaborating with stakeholders to define future‑state application roadmaps.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive audits and assessments of existing PowerBuilder and PowerServer applications.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify performance, stability, scalability, and operational issues.
- Analyze application architecture, deployment configurations, and system integration workflows.
- Identify technical risks, system inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization.
- Prepare detailed audit reports, technical findings, and actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define modernization, migration, or application enhancement strategies.
- Develop strategic roadmaps and implementation plans for future upgrades.
- Provide technical guidance on application modernization, security, and performance optimization.
- Support technical decision-making through feasibility studies and architectural assessments.
- Evaluate legacy applications and recommend appropriate modernization approaches.
- Document assessment results and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
- Collaborate with technical and business teams throughout assessment and planning activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with PowerBuilder and PowerServer technologies.
- Experience performing application audits, system assessments, or technical consulting engagements.
- Strong understanding of client‑server and web‑based application architectures.
- Experience conducting performance tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of relational database platforms such as SQL Server, Oracle, or equivalent.
- Experience evaluating legacy systems and developing modernization or migration strategies.
- Strong technical documentation, reporting, and presentation skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and investigative abilities.
- Experience supporting application migration initiatives from on‑premises to cloud or web‑based platforms is preferred.
- Familiarity with Appeon PowerServer is highly desirable.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of application security principles and compliance standards is preferred.
- Previous consulting or advisory experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to produce system audit reports, risk and gap analyses, modernization recommendations, and strategic implementation roadmaps.
